From manic Monday traffic to never-ending coffee queues, mornings can sometimes turn into a bit of a rush. We believe hairstyling and beauty routines should be fun, simple and stress-free – not something to half-consider when you’re dashing out the door! If you’re in need of some effortless looks that take little-to-no time at all, then look no further – we’ll be diving into how you can recreate some of our favourite ‘I woke up like this’ hairstyles for busy women on the go.
Ponytail Hairstyles
Sleek High Ponytail
The sleek high ponytail is an absolute favourite for all occasions and is a great way of keeping your hair out of your face – whether you’re going for a run, spending the day in the office, or taking an early morning trip to the airport, a sleek high pony guarantees style, practicality and the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic.
Part your hair in half with our Pintail Comb, horizontally form the top of your left ear to your right. Gather the top half of your hair using our Detangling Hairbrush for where you want the ponytail to be and begin to smooth it into position. Aim to align your ponytail on a diagonal from your cheekbones, pulling it back to that point.
Finally, divide your hair into two halves. Focusing on the top section first, as this makes it easier to manage any tricky bumps when you come to the bottom section. Brush this bottom section upwards, joining it to the top ponytail with a second hair tie. The ultimate finishing touch for doing a high ponytail is to wrap a little hair over the hair ties. That way, they aren’t visible to everyone. Pick a section of about half an inch in width from the underneath of the ponytail and wrap it around until the ties are covered. Secure the ponytail in place with a bobby pin.
Are you lacking the volume and length to pull off your ponytail For an updo upgrade, try adding our silky, 100% Remy human hair Wraparound Ponytail for the perfect pony that can be straightened, curl and styled whatever way you like!
Messy Low Ponytail
Show off your natural beauty with a ponytail, high or low! Ponytails open up your face and put your best features on display, sometimes making a person unrecognisable in the very best way. A low ponytail works best on mid-length to long hair, and oozes class and sophistication, an effortless, chic look for a business meeting or a more casual morning outing.
Firstly, prep your hair with any product you own such as hairspray or hair gel, so that your hair can easily grip itself to any style you decide to create. Start by lightly teasing your hair with a comb or hairbrush to add some volume, then gather your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck. Don't worry about perfection, as this style thrives on a bit of messiness! Pull out a few loose strands to frame your face or to wrap around and conceal your hair tie, and there you have it!
Bun Hairstyles
Classic Top Knot
To achieve the classic top knot, also known as the messier, more rebellious bun, you’ll need the ultimate ‘oomph’. Start by combing your hair into a ponytail with dry shampoo or texturing spray to give it that extra lift, before securing it with a hair tie. This style is especially good for those with long curly or wavy hair, as those hair textures tend to enhance the volume.
After backcombing your hair, take your comb and lightly brush the very top layer of hair in the ponytail, brushing from the base of the ponytail down to the ends of your hair. Comb very gently with a brush rather than a comb, which will be easier to work with on backcombed hair. Smoothing this very top layer of the ponytail will keep the top knot looking smooth, even if the hair in the centre of the top knot is full and textured.
Next, wrap your hair in a bun around the base of your ponytail. When you reach the ends of your hair, tuck the hair beneath your hair tie. Finally, pin your bun in place with as many bobby pins needed, the more matched they are to your hair colour, the better.
Messy Bun With Braids
There’s no need to be intimated – this hairstyle is not as complicated as it looks! The messy bun with a braided wrap is surprisingly only a three-step process and allows you to play around and fine-tune just how ‘messy’ you want it. If you want a perfect, neat ballerina-style bun, then you may be in the wrong place!
Firstly, start by gathering your hair at the front and sides of your head and separating them from the back with our Alligator Clips. Gather the rest of your hair at the nape of the neck and begin to form a basic, low bun. Secure your bun in place with a hair tie, then begin to pull at the outer edges of the bun so the bun stretches and becomes bigger and more widespread across the back of your head. Once your bun is secured, grab a handful of bobby pins and pin any stray hairs in place. If there are any gaps visible, place your finger down on the gap that needs to be covered with a piece of hair and pull upward towards your scalp before pinning in place.
Now for the front! Take the loose pieces of hair at the front of the head and wrap them round towards the back of your head, then begin to braid. New to braiding? Then you’ll want to go for a traditional braid instead of a French one. You’ll want to make sure you’re pulling the hair backwards as much as possible. Pin the braids into place and use them to cover any extension attachments or other pins.
When you are braiding, make sure to try and hold the braid a little looser than usual. If you braid it too tight, the look may be more severe than what you’d like.
Half Up Half Down Hairstyles
Half Up Ponytail
You’ve got the best of both worlds with a half up ponytail! If you’re going for the wavy look, it’s best to wash your hair the night before so it holds a natural wave in the morning. Our model wears 18" Double Wefted Clip Ins in the shade Iced Cappuccino.
Start off by brushing your hair thoroughly and detangling any knots as best as you can. Pull the top half of your hair into a ponytail, sectioning off the bottom half and leaving any bangs loose at the front. Brush out the bottom half of your ponytail and ensure that both sections are separated neatly and equally.
If you want your half ponytail to have more volume in the front, tease the top section of your hair using a pintail comb, then tie it up without pulling too much on the section you teased.
Half Up Bun
The half up bun is perfect for the bohemian princess, but also for busy women who need to ace a quick and easy hairstyle before work. Think Coachella, road trips and dinners on the beach – but equally as stylish when working at your desk! As imperfectly perfect as a messy bun, this hairstyle is extra cute for those with shorter locks such as a choppy bob or pixie cut, giving your hairdo extra depth. To get the festival look, why not opt for space buns? The model in our video uses our Seamless Hair Extensions in the shade Jet Black to add thickness to her half-up space buns.
Quick Braided Hairstyles
Side Braid
If you’ve got a few extra minutes in front of the mirror, a side braid is a pretty, feminine option that’s bound to be the envy of everyone on your morning commute. This side braid hairstyle is best for those with mid length or long hair without layers. Graceful and regal, the side braid can be created by starting with neatly brushed, dry or damp hair.
Begin your braid by bringing the right section under the middle, and the left section under the right, then gather some hair to the middle piece on the right side and tuck it under. Repeat adding in hair from the left side and bringing that section under into the middle. Secure the end with hair tie or small elastic hair band.
Crown Braid
Quite literally the crowning glory, we’d expect no less than royalty for our readers, which is why for our last easy morning hairstyle we’ve selected the stunning crown braid. A crown braid may sound intricate, but it doesn’t take long to create at all. The crown braid is essentially a more stylish way of wrapping two French braids delicately around your head, with room to add extra flair if you wish.
