Creating Your Dream Bridal Romantic Twist Updo: A Step-by-Step Guide

How To Create a Romantic French Twist Updo

You’ll need bobby pins to secure the twist in place, a hair elastic or band to hold your ponytail, and our Detangling Hairbrush for extra smoothness. A texturising spray will also add grip to your hair, making it easier to style, and hairspray will ensure a long-lasting hold. Decorative hairpins or clips will add a touch of sparkle to your finished look. 

Follow these steps to achieve a bridal look that’s both classic and contemporary: 

1. Washing: Start with clean hair, ideally washed, and dried the night before. Day-old hair often holds styles better than freshly washed hair.  
2. Hair Prep: Apply texturising spray to give your hair the grip it needs for the twist to stay in place. Next, add volume to your hair by gently teasing the crown with a fine-tooth comb. Tease in small sections with our Pintail Comb and spray with hairspray for hold. 
3. Create Your Twist: If you want to section the hair into an upper and lower half, you can do so by using our Sectioning Clips to hold the upper half of the hair in place while you curl the ends. Once curled or styled to your liking, form the base of your twist by gathering your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck.  
4. Secure In Place: Secure it with a hair elastic, but don’t pull the elastic too tight against your scalp. Now, create the twist by holding the ponytail with one hand and twisting it upwards, tucking the ends into the base. As you twist, use bobby pins to secure the twist along the seam. 
5. Smooth and Silky: Continue to pin the twist in place, making sure it feels secure. You can use as many pins as needed to ensure the twist stays put throughout the day. Smooth any fly-aways with a small amount of hairspray. You can also use a toothbrush sprayed with hairspray for precision.
