From sharp bobs and bold pixies, to fairy-tale white hair and two-tone green-and-black locks, these are the hairdos that took the night by storm, and we've got some handy hints on how you can steal them for yourself.
The New Bob
We know long hair with loose curls has been plastered all over the magazine covers with the likes of Emma Stone all throughout the year last year. This style, however, is not just for the long-locked ladies. As Natalie Portman proves a sharp bob dressed in pillow-soft waves, rocks this look just as well as waist length waves. This is one of the trendiest hairstyles this year. We are calling it the new bob, which is a short and sharp bob haircut with a bit of texture at the ends.Celebrity hairstylist Adam Cambell was responsible for Portman’s chic hairdo. He took inspiration from the "French Girl wave" and achieved the look using Dove products. He used a 1 1/4-inch curling iron to create the waves, with a little help from dry shampoo for added texture.

The Pearly White Crop
This bold short hair look cannot be carried off by many women, but Cynthia Erivo does it with grace and ease. Her gorgeous white Versace ballgown made the perfect match for her hairdo. Erivo rocked her super short all-white haircut with the smoky eye, striking the perfect monochrome balance for her whole look.
Styled by celeb hairstylist Coree Moreno, Erivo’s Oscar's red carpet hair was achieved using with products from Dove’s new Amplified Textures line, which include a colour-safe shampoo for that pearly white hair colour.
Moreno shared with the press “the key to the perfect colour is having a well-moisturized base,” so he started Erivo’s double process colour with Dove’s Amplified Textures Hydrating Cleanse Shampoo and Moisture Spa Recovery Mask. He then applied Dove Amplified Textures Moisture Lock Leave-in Conditioner for an added layer of protection. To use, the stylist used a small amount of Dove Style + Care Volume & Fullness Mousse.
To finish Dove Amplified Textures Shine & Moisture Finishing Gel to mould her hair and used Dove Style + Care Micro Mist Extra Hold Hairspray to hold her hair.
Although not pearly white, Olivia Colman wowed the red carpet in a brand-new platinum blonde hair look, which is a complete hair transformation from her usual dark locks.
Charlize Theron also rocked a short hairdo with her icy blonde hair. Adir Abergel who styled Theron's hair in it's usual side swoop but added a hidden hair accesory (it could only be seen from the back of her hair).
Plait Perfection
Kate Bosworth's updo was the talk at the 2020 Oscars. The clues are in the details in this cute hairstyle! From the front, it’s super slick updo, but the back tells a different story. A pretty, soft but tight plait created a graceful look that gently combines three different styles in one – a high ponytail, a plait, and a diamond bracelet accessory. Her stylist, Bridget Brager created this look by creating a simple half-up high ponytail which led into down the back of Bosworth's head into the Dutch braid at the bottom, which was then accessorised with a vintage Beladora diamond bracelet.
“Anytime I start a style for the red carpet I always start on a clean just washed, fresh foundation. My go-to is Herbal Essences Sulfate-Free Bio: renew Aloe and Hemp Shampoo and Conditioner, it offers a punch of moisture and balance,” Brager said.
The Hollywood Wave
Nothing says “what, this old thing?” like a subtly styled down-do, and we can’t get enough of this effortless wave. It’s feminine, chic, and understated, and suits near enough any occasion. Whether you’re teaming it with studded pearl a’la Lucy Boynton or taking a page out of Margot Robbie’s style bible with crisp, sharp waves, this look is simple and effective.Boynton bodied the hairclip trend with soft waves with a pearl-embellished side parting, and finished off the look with a statement, bold red lip. Hairstylist Jenny Cho styled the actress’ hair and used the Hair Ritual by Sisley products to create it. Cho created the soft waves using a straightener on freshly washed and blow-dried hair, followed by a small amount of Hair Ritual by Sisley Precious Hair Care Oil for texture.
Moroccanoil's stylist Bryce Scarlett sent Robbie to the red carpet in simple sculpted waves to complement her vintage, off-the-shoulder Chanel gown.
Rebel Wilson also went for pure glamour with her Hollywood waves, and combined both the on-trend hairclip with a statement red lipstick. This style is all about volume and bounce, so curl your hair towards your face instead of away. Once your curls are pinned in place spritz with alcohol free hairspray. This will give your hair bounce, give it a lovely hold that can still be workable.
The Edgy Two-tone Style
Billie Eilish graced the catwalk in head to toe Chanel, however, her hair was making a statement of its own. Her two-tone neon-green-and-black hair was swept into a voluminous, loose updo and completed with Chanel ribbons and clips.Hairstylist Mara Roszak shared the products she used to achieve Eilish’s look which included IGK's Next Level Nordic Cotton Heat-Activated Volume Spray and the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer.
